JOB SUMMARY: –
Conducts research into various aspects of teacher education, performance and professional development to provide for more efficient planning and decision making in educational development. Assignments are general and work is performed with considerable initiative under the guidance of a superior, through observation, discussions and an analysis of reports.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:-
- Works on research projects undertaken by the Teacher Education, Performance and Professional Development Unit of the Ministry of Education employing a range of different research methodologies in education.
- Develops research instruments such as questionnaires and interview protocols.
- Ensures quality control of research and develops research designs.
- Conducts and analyzes data collected.
- Provides information and analysis to inform policy.
- Ensures that research is conducted within the requisite time frame to meet policy and programme requirements.
- Keeps up to date with developments in policy and social issues, as well as qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- Delivers presentations on findings of research projects.
- Works with and provides support for research and data collection efforts to other Divisions in the Ministry of Education as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:-
- A Degree from a recognized University in one (1) of the Social Sciences.
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in the field of education including experience in educational planning or research and training.
