JOB SUMMARY: –
The Educational Technologist contributes to the successful deployment of educational technology support to the various stakeholders of the Educational Technology Unit (ETU). The incumbent will be required to provide a range of technologies related to teaching, learning and administration; and pedagogical guidance and instructional strategies to teachers at the Secondary, Primary and ECCE levels.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:-
- Identify and recommend relevant educational technology tools that can benefit the various stakeholders of the ETU.
- Design and develop training resources that empower the various stakeholders of ETU to utilize the educational technologies under ETU’s purview.
- Conduct and/or contribute to the delivery of synchronous training, whether face-to-face or online, to the various stakeholders of the ETU.
- Develop asynchronous resources in various formats (written, audio or video) to support stakeholders who need assistance utilizing the educational technology tools provided by the ETU.
- Collaborate with instructional designers and other members of the ETU to work on various projects.
- Under the guidance and instruction of the Director of the ETU, collaborate with other personnel from the various divisions and units of the Ministry of Education, on projects that require educational technology support & expertise.
- Keep abreast of contemporary trends and developments in the area of educational technology at all levels.
- Other relevantly assigned duties within the areas of educational technology.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:-
- Training as evidence by the possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Educational Technology, Learning Technologies, Distance Education or any related field.
- Two (2) years’ work experience in the field of Educational Technology at a technical level.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:-
- An understanding of Learning and Instructional Strategies.
- Competent in the use of a variety of learning technologies to support the physical and virtual teaching and learning environments.
REQUIRED SKILLS:-
- Competent in a variety of digital technologies:
- Digital Content Authoring Tools e.g. SCORM Creation software, Screen casting software, video editing software.
- Productivity tools e.g. Microsoft 365 suite of tools
- Video Conferencing Technologies
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems, preferably Moodle.
- Supervision of a team.
- Excellent written and oral communication as well as effective presentation.
- Team building.
- Critical thinking and problem solving.
- A portfolio or evidence of having developed digital content/resources.
