JOB SUMMARY:
An employee in this position is responsible for the promotion of ECCE projects in community groups and committees. The Family/Community Support Officers report to the Family/Community Coordinator, ECCE Division and is responsible for Family/Community support at District level.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Advises groups and committees on the benefits of ECCE.
- Liaises with voluntary organizations and charitable agencies to obtain assistance for projects.
- Monitors the development of ECCE Family/Community projects and supervises the operations of such projects at ECCE Centres.
- Promotes the formation of parent (and other) groups, guides their operations and disseminates information regarding ECCE.
- Assists in the execution of programmes for training family/community members, by arranging courses and workshop activities.
- Ensures the procurement of materials and supplies for use at family/community workshops, courses, etc.
- Prepares reports on visits to Centres and groups and on meetings attended.
- Receives complaints and requests from members of families/community and forwards same to relevant authorities as prescribed at ECCE Division/National Council for ECCE.
- Performs related work as may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Five (5) CXC/GCE O Level passes including English Language and Mathematics. Social Studies will be an asset.
- Experience in community work.
- Certification in social work or related field and/or equivalent combination of experience and training.
