District Coordinator, Health, Safety and Security Services

Job Summary:

The job requires the incumbent to assist in the management of health, safety, security and environment and school discipline initiatives at the various facilities assigned, to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for users.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitors and reports on the efficiency and effectiveness of security providers in the various facilities assigned. Site visits are conducted during and after normal working hours, weekends and public holidays.
  • Supervises the functioning of School Safety Officers and provides advice and mentoring aimed at improving school discipline.
  • Conducts detailed investigation into incidents and complaints and submits findings, and recommendations.
  • Liaises with Principals and assists School Safety Officers in the preparation and timely submission of reports on matters relating to health, safety and security.
  • Evaluates and makes recommendations on health, safety and security management at facilities assigned.
  • Maintains a register of all incidents of violence, breaches, damages to property and indiscipline in schools within district assigned.
  • Provides reports both in detail and summary of all incidents of violence, breaches, and damages to property and indiscipline in schools within district assigned.
  • Co-ordinates the supervision of all sporting, ceremonial and other social and academic functions to ensure health, safety and security of participants are upheld.
  • Verifies commencement, progress and completion of security services to agreed standards to facilitate payment in accordance with contracts.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of the laws if the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago  such as the Police Service Act, Regulations, Amendments, Supplemental Police Act, Summary Offences Act, Education Act, Malicious Damages Act, Children Act, Sexual Offences Act, Offences Against the Person Act, Gambling and Betting Act, Firearms Act, Explosive Act, Litter Act, OHSA, Dangerous Drugs Act, EMA Act, and others.
  • Knowledge of occupational safety and health principles and procedures.
  • Familiarity with arrest procedures.
  • Familiarity with policing and security procedures including physical and electronic security systems, techniques and operations.
  • Good report writing skills
  • Effective communication skills, verbal and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positives working relationships.
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to supervise a cadre of persons.

Minimum Experience and Training:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Health, Safety and Security Environment (HSSE) management.
  • Training in security management/law enforcement.
  • Seven (7) to nine (9) years’ experience in the field of health, safety and security.
  • Any other equivalent combination of qualification, training and experience will be considered.
  • Three (3) to (5) Years Supervisory experience.
