JOB SUMMARY
The Clinical Psychologist provides professional developmental and psychological assessments of students with the aim of improving students’ overall psychological functioning and well-being. The Clinical Psychologist specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of behavioural, mental, emotional and learning disorders that impact student learning and behaviour.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Provides comprehensive appraisal of the developmental and psychological status of students.
- Assesses students’ needs, abilities and behaviour using a variety of methods, including psychometric tests, interviews and direct observation
- Provides comprehensive reports according to professional guidelines and established standards.
- Reports and explains assessment results/findings to parents and other professionals directly involved with the student.
- Recommends and/or implements specific therapies/treatments to address difficulties relating to identified mental health issues and emotional and behavioural challenges/disorders
- Recommends and evaluates specialized service provision for students
- Provides professional consultation and support to other professionals involved in service delivery to students.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from an accredited university.
- Considerable experience in the administration and interpretation of standardized psychological tests and measures as evidenced by at least five (5) years’ work experience in the field.
- Relevant experience in working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in an educational environment.
